34th Annual NW Arkansas Senior Games
Celebrating 34 Years of Promoting "Aging Well, Living Well"
In the spring of 2017 a crowd of 294 seniors converged on Harrison to participate in the Northwest Arkansas Senior Games' track, field and fun events. The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas sponsors the event each year and has announced dates for the 2018 games. The 34th Annual NW Arkansas Senior Games will kick off with the women's 8-ball pool competition on Friday, April 13, and the men's 8-ball pool competition on Friday, April 20, at the Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center at 945 South College Avenue in Fayetteville, Arkansas followed by the bowling competition on Thursday, April 26th at Cottonwood Bowl in Harrison. Archery will be at the City Park in Bull Shoals, Arkansas on Saturday, May 5. The big track, field and fun event day will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018. The track and field events will be at the F.S. Garrison Stadium and Cash Center at the Harrison Senior High School at 1754 Burlsway in Harrison.
The competitions will include events for the serious competitor as well as a host of recreational and fun games including: a wide variety of walks, dashes, and runs, even a 3K run; shot put, running long jump, javelin, and standing long jump; dominoes, horseshoes, baggo, daisy air gun, softball throw, stationary cycling, basketball shoot, spin casting, football throw, nail pounding, Skip-Bo, and a balloon bust relay. The competitions are divided into age groups. Medals will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place depending on the event.
