Silver Haired Legislative Session

The Silver Haired Legislative Session is a mock legislature of delegates 60 years of age and older that has convened every two years since 1978.  The session is held with the permission of the Arkansas General Assembly and sponsored by the Department Human Services (DHS) Division of Aging, Adult and Behavioral Health, in partnership with the Arkansas Area Agencies on Aging.

The Silver Haired Legislature program provides an opportunity for senior Arkansans to:

  • Learn about the legislative process and become more effective advocates for all seniors in the state
  • Bring issues and concerns of senior Arkansans to the attention of the Arkansas General Assembly and the general public
  • Have legislation passed during the Silver Haired session that may become actual Arkansas law
