Silver Haired Legislature

The Silver Haired Legislative Session is a mock legislature of delegates 60 years of age and older that has convened every two years since 1978. The session is held with the permission of the Arkansas General Assembly and sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Aging and Adult Services in partnership with the Arkansas Area Agencies on Aging.

The Silver Haired Legislature program  provides an opportunity for senior Arkansans to:

  •  Learn about the legislative process and become more effective advocates for all seniors in the state

  • Bring the issues and concerns of senior Arkansans to the attention of the Arkansas General Assembly and the general public

  • Have legislation passed during the Silver Haired session that may become actual Arkansas law

The 2008 Silvered Haired Legislature will be held at the state capitol in Little Rock on August 20-21.   If you would like more information about how to become a delegate for your county please call Angie Dunlap at 800-432-9721 or 870-741-1144 or email adunlap@aaanwar.org.
