In the spring of 2010 a crowd of 300 seniors converged on Harrison to participate in the Northwest Arkansas Senior Games’ track, field and fun events. The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas sponsors the event each year and has announced that the 2011 games will be held April 15, 22, 28 May 5, and 14, 2011. The 27th annual senior games will kick off with the women's 8-ball pool competition on Friday, April 15, and the men's 8-ball pool competition on Friday April 22, at the Boone County Senior Activity Center in Harrison; followed by the bowling competition on Thursday, April 28 at Cottonwood Bowl in Harrison; then the big track, field and fun event day will be held at the Harrison Junior High School on Thursday, May 5, 2011.  (Please note this years Track and Field day is on Thursday.)  Archery will be at the City Park in Bull Shoals, Arkansas on Saturday, May 14, 2011.		The competitions will include events for the serious competitor as well as a host of recreational and fun games including: a wide variety of walks, dashes, and runs, even a 3K run; shot put, running long jump, javelin, and standing long jump;  dominoes, horseshoes, baggo, daisy air gun, softball throw, stationary cycling, basketball shoot, spin casting, football throw, nail pounding, Skip-Bo, and a balloon bust relay.  The agency is very pleased to have archery back on the schedule of events this year.  The  competitions are divided into age groups. Medals and ribbons will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place depending on the event.           Over the past few years, a number of corporations and businesses have become partners, providing financial support for senior services through their Northwest Arkansas Senior Games sponsorship.         The games are open to people age 50 and older and pre-registration is required.
